Exploring Life & Business with Vicki Irish of NW Love in a Box

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vicki Irish.

Hi Vicki, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
NW Love In A Box began with founder Kim, who launched the business after a spark of inspiration at the Portland Night Market in 2015. What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something special—rooted in her love of thoughtful gift giving, locally made products, and a commitment to caring for our environment. Kim had a gift for connecting people, and every box she created was a way to share the stories, creativity, and heart of small Pacific Northwest businesses.

Today, that vision is being carried forward by Kim’s dear friend Vicki, owner of Two Chicks & a Rooster Catering. With a passion for bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences, they both share the belief that the little things, whether it’s great food or a thoughtfully curated gift, can make a big impact. Vicki and her team’s focus on community, quality, and giving back continues to guide everything they do.

As we look ahead, our goal is simple: stay true to what Kim started while continuing to grow with heart. We’re committed to maintaining the same level of quality and care you’ve come to expect, all while supporting local makers and spreading a little more joy, one box at a time. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about sharing Love… in a Box.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since we took over, it’s been fairly smooth transition! The previous owner has been incredibly helpful in training our Operations Manager, Dani. Dani has been focusing on building the business and working on new marketing strategies to take us into a bigger, brighter future.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in creating custom gift boxes full of all sorts of items exclusively from NW owned and operated small businesses. Since we are located in Oregon, many of our products are sourced very locally, but we also feature several brands from Washington, Idaho, and soon to be Alaska. (We don’t want them to feel left out!) Even the boxes themselves are made by hand in Damascus from reclaimed and recycled wood.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We LOVE the members of our community, whether it be family, friends or neighbors! Oregon is a beautiful, environmentally diverse state with plenty to do and see in every corner and we are so blessed to live here.
