Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Le Grand.
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised by my mother with two sisters and we did a lot of our own projects. My grandfather and uncle on my mother’s side both were career plumbers, and were extremely handy in many skills. Naturally, in my first house, I did all of the projects myself.
In 2007 I began my first business as a contractor in Des Moines, IA. That company ran for the next decade. In 2013, my infant daughter was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer that put my family and I in and out of the hospital for the majority of the next three years. After her chemotherapy and liver transplant, there were surgical complications that required us to transfer her care to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Thankfully, they were able to resolve her issues and allow us to move forward. That is why my family left the Midwest and landed in the West.
While living in Washington, a few times we visited one of my closest friends from Iowa who had moved to Corvallis, OR. All of us liked the town and the area. In 2019, when our oldest child graduated high school, he picked Oregon State University. So, the whole family packed up and moved to Corvallis. After everything we had been through, I wasn’t ready to start a new business. Always loving bicycles and having experience in shops earlier in life, I managed one of the local shops for the next fours years. Two years ago, I left the shop, went back to residential contracting and started Stress Less Renovation, LLC.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to Oregon was rough, but my family and I are alive and well. After those challenges, everything else just seems bumpy.
Starting a business is rarely easy. With contracting, there are plenty of state regulations and licensing requirements. After the business was in place, getting my name out was the next challenge. Marketing is not one of my strengths. Thankfully leading the bike shop helped me build relationships in the community. Letting people know the change I was making, and doing some local grassroots marketing, helped me get going. I strive to make my homeowners happy, become repeat clients, and generate referrals. Thankfully, I have been successful with this approach. In construction, most projects present challenges and surprises. Problem solving is one of my strengths and helps me work through each day and each project.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Stress Less Renovation, LLC.?
I am a general residential contractor offering a wide range of services. I handle everything from small repairs to full kitchen and bathroom renovations, along with interior and exterior painting, flooring, tiling, decks, fences, and more.
What sets me apart is that I’m a one-person operation, so every project gets my full attention from start to finish. Homeowners aren’t passed between crews or companies. They work directly with me. That delivers better communication, more accountability, and a smoother experience.
I’m known for being reliable, thorough, and easy to work with. I take the time to understand each homeowner’s goals, help guide decisions when needed, and execute the work with a high level of detail.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust I build with my clients. My business is built on honesty, clear communication, and consistently delivering quality work at a fair price. I want people to know that when they hire me, they get someone who genuinely cares about the outcome of their project and their overall experience, not just the job itself.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Wow, that is tough, and favorites are hard for me. I will say, when I was about 5 years old going to the theaters and seeing Indiana Jones and Tron with my dad before he passed away from cancer.
