Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Kinion.
Ryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career in Massage therapy back in 2018, prior to that I was working social services as homeless shelter manager and after that as a cyber security rep traveling across the US to military bases. In 2016 my life turned upside my 3-year relationship ended, one of my closest friends past away and followed by my father three months later. Feeling stressed and depressed and being over 350 pounds and over worked. I knew I needed a change for my health physically and mentally. I always had a interest in becoming a massage therapist since high school when I used massage therapy when I played football. I began going to school in 2017 and started my career in 2018 working at massage envy and Zama Massage for years before stepping out on my own. I now do mobile massage in the Portland metro area and I have my studio practice at Torchmark in the West Hills.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had several challenges. One being a Massage therapist is physically demanding job and when I began my career I was very overweight. I had to work myself into shape, I’m now an avid gym goer and practice yoga several times a week. As a male massage therapist it can sometimes be difficult to find opportunities for work with peoples past trauma and comfort levels.

I’m licensed massage therapist that specializes in Swedish and deep/sports massage. I bring the spa atmosphere to your home or work by bringing my own massage table with options for add-ons such as hot stones, cupping and CBD oil for best massage experience you desire. No more getting dressed and having to drive home after your massage as you can roll off my massage table and relax on your own couch or bed. For those who are looking to escape from their own homes I do have studio located at the lovely Touchmark in the West Hills, its a quiet relaxed atmosphere that offers free hot towels with every massage. I take pride in my work and strive to deliver the best massage therapy experience for my clients by being professional, punctual and continuing to educate myself in massage therapy.
What matters most to you? Why?
My clients satisfaction with their massage therapy session whether its for physical aliment or stress relief. I see people on their best or worst days and my clients pay me with hard earned money and I never take that for granted as my father instilled in me to always do your best when someone pays your for something no matter how big or small the job is.
