Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Spurk.
Hi Tessa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into fitness didn’t start from a place of self-love—it started with an eating disorder and the belief that I needed to change my body to be worthy. After years of dieting, food rules, and chasing perfection, recovery taught me something powerful: true health has very little to do with the number on the scale.
Now, I help women build strength, confidence, and sustainable habits without diets or extremes. My coaching is rooted in the belief that fitness should support your life, not consume it. Because the goal isn’t to become smaller, but instead it’s to become stronger, healthier, and more at peace with yourself.
My goal is to help them live their best lives OUTSIDE the gym by building healthy strong bodies inside of it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For me creating a healthy relationship with moving my body has been a bumpy road. But I have always enjoyed my time outside and that’s been one of the best ways for me to stay balanced with my view of my body and exercise.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I run a personal training business that specializes in helping women break free from diet culture and its extremes to build a balanced lifestyle and make peace with their bodies.
My goal is to get women IN to the fitness space and feel safe, comfortable and enjoy their journey.
I love that I was able to take my messy and unhealthy past and use it to help other women not make the mistakes I did. I’m really proud that I broke free from the standard fitness professional mindset and chose to be more soft, approachable and fun! I feel like I also create really close bonds with my clients and that is a privilege I don’t take lightly! Them trusting their bodies and struggles with me is HUGE.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks has always been challenging for me. I do feel like by branching out from the standard in fitness I have taken a risk. By not focusing on or selling weight loss to potential clients I know that it limits the amount of people that I can work with however, to me what’s more important is that I am bringing in clients who really want to create lasting change and love their bodies and if that means that I end up with less clients, that’s OK with me. I am here to create lasting results, both in client’s minds and their bodies. I’m actually currently looking into starting my own small studio for clients as well so that we can have a really incredible space for them to feel even more comfortable and at peace. I really just want to have a place where I can help people find joy and fitness and I’m really looking forward to the potential.
