Today we’d like to introduce you to Julianne Ruth.
Hi Julianne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career as a massage therapist in 2007, drawn to the work because of its intersection between anatomy, intuition, and genuine human impact. I built my practice around results — specializing in deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and injury recovery — because I’ve always been more interested in helping people get out of pain than in offering a luxury experience for its own sake.
In 2014, everything stopped. I sustained a traumatic brain injury that left me permanently disabled and forced me to relearn basic functions most people take for granted. That experience didn’t just reshape my recovery — it reshaped how I practice. I understand pain, patience, and the nonlinear nature of healing in a way that no classroom can teach.
I spent years rebuilding. I went back to school, earned my BFA in film and graphic design magna cum laude, and kept my eye on returning to full-time practice. 2025 was the first year I worked full time since my injury. I also formulate my own topical pain balm called F Balm which I include in sessions at no extra charge, because I believe the care shouldn’t stop when the session ends.
East 2 West Wellness is a private, appointment-only practice in Beaverton, Oregon. Every client gets 18 years of experience, undivided attention, and work that is actually tailored to their body — not a template.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road.
In 2014 I sustained a traumatic brain injury that required me to relearn how to walk and talk. I lost my ability to work, my financial stability, and in many ways the life I had built. Navigating permanent disability and rebuilding a business from nothing while managing a brain that didn’t work the way it used to — that is not a small thing.
I also returned to school during this period, earned a BFA in film and graphic design magna cum laude, and kept pushing toward returning to full-time practice. 2025 was the first year I worked full time since my injury.
I say all of this not for sympathy but because it is the context for everything. The practice I run now, the way I work with clients in pain, the precision I bring to what I do — none of it exists without everything I had to survive to get here.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
East 2 West Wellness is a private, appointment-only massage therapy practice in Beaverton, Oregon. I specialize in deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage, and injury recovery — work focused on function and pain relief, not just relaxation.
What sets me apart is clinical precision combined with genuine personalization. Every session is built around the individual in front of me, and every session includes — at no extra charge — Oregon Coast hot stones, cupping therapy, Gua Sha, hot towels, aromatherapy, and my proprietary handcrafted herbal pain balm. I also provide home care guidance so clients know how to maintain their progress between sessions.
This is not a spa mill. I am the only therapist here, and that is intentional. Clients book in advance, sessions are by appointment only, and every person who comes through my door gets my full attention and 18 years of hands-on experience.
Sessions are $110 for 60 minutes and $160 for 90 minutes. New clients receive $20 off their first session.
What I am most proud of brand-wise is that East 2 West Wellness reflects exactly what I do and who I am — no filler, no upsells, no assembly line. Just skilled, focused, results-driven work from someone who has spent nearly two decades learning how the body holds pain and how to release it.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Walking on my mother’s back every night because it was the only thing that helped her migraines.
