Hi LeeAnne, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began working in accounting in the early 1990s, driven by a simple but powerful goal: to support my growing family. What started as a practical decision soon grew into a true calling. Determined to build a long-term career in the field, I returned to school to pursue my accounting degree while working full-time and raising my family.
After earning my Associate degree in Accounting from Chemeketa Community College, life led me in a different direction, and I had to pause my collegiate journey to meet the evolving needs of my family. Even so, I never stepped away from the profession itself. Over the years, I continued to expand my expertise by working with several small local business owners through previous employers, steadily building both practical knowledge and professional credibility.
That experience led me to become a certified bookkeeper, a licensed tax preparer, and a notary in Oregon. In 2025, when my employer decided to sell the business, I saw an opportunity to take the next step in my own journey. I made the decision to return to school to earn my bachelor’s degree in accounting and continue pursuing my CPA license in the state of Oregon.
Since then, I have opened All About Accounting LLC and embraced this new chapter with renewed purpose. I am expected to graduate from Eastern Oregon University in spring 2027 and plan to sit for the CPA exam the following year. My story is one of perseverance, growth, and the belief that it is never too late to invest in your future and build the career you have always envisioned.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. One of the biggest challenges was trying to balance work, school, and family responsibilities at the same time. After earning my associate degree, I had to put my college education on hold because my family needed me in other ways. That was difficult, because I always knew I wanted to continue my education and grow in my career. There were also moments of uncertainty, especially when my employer decided to sell the business in 2025. But instead of letting those challenges stop me, I used them as motivation to keep moving forward. Each setback taught me something, strengthened my determination, and ultimately helped shape the path I’m on today.
