Life & Work with Jeremy Cassel of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Cassel.

Jeremy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started as an apprentice, sweeping floors in a glass studio, and slowly acquired the skills i needed to branch out on my own and begin creating.
I worked for several years in my garage before renting a farm and working in an old horse barn with a group of others. Eventually I ended up at my current space in mcminnville, where the public can watch us work

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s always hurdles from market changes to bureaucratic red tape. I thought I was signing up to make glass but running a business it’s filled with obstacles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
While specializing in design and creation of high quality glassware used in thousands of homes and on the shelves of many stores across america and overseas, we also work directly with the public through both our online platforms and our open studio.
Having an open studio in our industry is very unique as it presents a lot of hurdles, however we thoroughly enjoy inviting the public into our space so they can see and be a part of the process. We’re open seven days a week and anyone is welcome to come and watch anytime. Additionally are always happy to schedule demonstrations and lessons for individuals or groups.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The group I work with deserves a ton of credit. Christian, AJ and I work together to design and produce everything.
Clarisa manages us and tells us what to do and what not to do. She typically is the face of the business and takes care of everything, and everyone so that we can focus on making glass. She deals with most incoming orders and makes sure everyone gets their product perfectly
