Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Herzberg.
Hi Kyle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a business owner with the most untraditional path you could come up with. I studied kinesiology at George Fox, where I also met my now wife and mother to 2 kids, Olivia. Shortly after graduation, I worked fulltime as an EMT firefighter and started paramedic school. I was a month from graduation when I felt a calling from the Lord to make a radical change – to step fulltime into the business I was building on the side and to leave behind the 3 years of firefighting.
Fast forward 2 years later, I now run a successful wedding photography and videography business with multiple employees on our team, shooting 50+ weddings each year.
I can only attribute the success and blessings toward obeying and trusting the Lord and the plan that He called me to. My wife and I still live in the Newberg suburbs and run our business from home during the week, and travel all over the country for weddings on the weekends.
In our short 2 years, we have been able to scale upwards to a $300,000 revenue year, and now projected to do $400,000 in 2026. We absolutely adore serving and celebrating our couples to the best of our ability!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our path to running a successful business has been full of trial and error. With an art form such as photography & videography, there is no short cuts to learning the craft. It truly takes years of practice and patients, learning from each experience. We were less confident with our abilities and technical skillset earlier on in our careers, but have now reached a point to be considered experts in the industry. We now show up with confidence in knowing we are the team who is able to provide our clients with the absolute best product they could have.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in documentary and intimate style wedding photography and videography. We capture our clients most special days in a way that timelessly preserves their emotions so they can look back on their gallery and watch their video and be reminded of how their day felt rather than just how it looked.
We are known for also being a family owned – christian company. Because of this, majority of our clientele also share the christian faith, and we do a lot of Christian weddings. I believe this also helps set us apart from the vast majority of wedding professionals, as we are bold and proud of our faith – praying for each couple before the wedding day even starts. When your vendors show up on your wedding day with a heart and posture ready to humbly serve you – that is when the best wedding days happen.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice towards any creatives starting out, or entrepreneurs of any type for that matter, is to truly step into your niche and find what makes you special. Differentiating yourself from the crowd is the quickest way to find your ideal market and clientele that you love working with. There may be a huge number of others in your same business or service category, but there is only one you. Embrace that.
