Hi Acoustic, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Acoustic Minds, also known as The AM, is a Portland-based band fronted by identical twin sisters Amanda and Jenni Price. The twins began singing with their father at just two years old, starting a lifelong musical journey that has taken them around the world and led them to lend their signature harmonies and vocals to hundreds of songs.
Blending soulful harmonies with bass-driven pop, soul and electronic influences, Acoustic Minds has built a reputation around the twins’ unmistakable vocal chemistry and high-energy live performances. Recently named a Top 5 Best Band in Willamette Week’s Best of Portland, they are also the creators and producers behind Leather & Lace, their ever-growing celebration of the music of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been easy. Through different chapters of life, personal struggles, and the inevitable ups and downs of pursuing music, one thing has remained constant: music has always led Amanda and Jenni back to each other. Their connection as sisters is at the heart of Acoustic Minds, and you can hear it in the way their voices naturally find one another.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets Acoustic Minds apart has always been the voices. As identical twins who have been singing together since we were two, our tone, harmony and phrasing developed side by side. There’s an instinctive way our voices blend and move together that has become the foundation of our sound — sometimes it’s hard to tell where one voice ends and the other begins.
But it’s also bigger than the two of us. We love using those voices to collaborate, build community and lift up other artists. Whether we’re creating our own music, singing behind another artist, or producing something as large as Leather & Lace, it always comes back to voices, harmony, connection and making music with people we love.
