Today we’d like to introduce you to AGUENDINE KHASIDIS.
Hi AGUENDINE, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
If you told me years ago when I was a merchant marine, playing pro basketball, or running a motorcycle repair shop that I’d end up loving taxes, I would have laughed. On the surface, those worlds look completely different, but they required the exact same thing: the ability to diagnose a problem under pressure, figure out how it works, and fix it. Today, I use those exact same skills to navigate the IRS.
I know people don’t usually pair ‘adventure’ with ‘accounting,’ but to me, taxes are the ultimate puzzle. I actually got into this on a dare to myself—taking a free H&R Block course just to see if I could do it. It clicked instantly. I realized every tax return tells a story, and more importantly, every tax problem has a backdoor out if you know how to read the blueprints. I became obsessed with mastering it. I put my head down and aggressively climbed to the top of the field, fast-tracking my Enrolled Agent credential, becoming an NTPI Fellow, and an Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant in record time because I wanted the heavy-hitting tools.
To me, a complex tax return isn’t just paperwork—it’s an engine that needs tuning, or a high-stakes game where you need to know the playbook inside and out. I don’t just crunch numbers; I’m a fixer. When clients come to Data Mind Tax & Accounting, they’re often facing down intimidation, chaos, or years of unresolved issues. They feel hunted by the system. My job is to step in, decode the complex rules, and give them their leverage back.
Whether I’m doing deep-dive consulting, IRS resolution, or helping people get back on track, I treat it like a mission. You don’t need the drama of Ozark or The Accountant to find thrill in this—bringing absolute certainty and relief to someone who felt totally trapped is the ultimate rush
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Pivoting into this field later in life comes with a steep learning curve, especially when you’re going up against a tax code that is essentially an endless ocean of data. There is an incredible amount of information to digest, and my biggest hurdle is simply that there aren’t enough hours in the day to master every single corner of it.
During tax season, the sheer volume of work means your personal life and family time take a hit, and you find yourself wishing for just a little more time to get it all done. You get a real adrenaline rush from solving those high-stakes problems, so the hardest part is actually when the season ends and things suddenly slow down. To channel that energy year-round, I’ve started working on tax education videos, courses, and apps to help people outside of April.
Finding my lane in the industry was a challenge, too. I spent time in public accounting looking for mentorship and complex cases, but learned that traditional corporate environments weren’t the right fit for how I want to treat people. I also ground through low-paying contract work early on just to build my credentials. But every obstacle clarified my mission. I don’t want to just push paper in a traditional firm. I want to bring a real, human, and steady approach to helping people who are overwhelmed by tax chaos and give them their peace of mind back.
We’ve been impressed with Data Mind Tax and Accounting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Data Mind Tax & Accounting is built for individuals and small business owners who need more than just a data-entry accountant. They need someone who can look at the whole picture, explain what is happening, and help them find a clear path forward. I specialize in tax preparation, tax consulting, IRS and state tax resolution, ITIN assistance, and helping clients get compliant when they have fallen behind or feel overwhelmed by the system.
What sets Data Mind apart is the combination of technical training and real-world perspective. I am an Enrolled Agent, an Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant, and an NTPI Fellow, so I have the credentials to assist with more complex tax and representation matters. But just as important, I bring a steady, practical, and nonjudgmental approach to work that can feel intimidating for a lot of people.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the relief we provide. Many clients come in feeling anxious, ashamed, or paralyzed by years of unresolved tax issues. I built Data Mind to be a place where that anxiety can be replaced with strategy, clarity, and a plan. Tax problems are almost always more solvable than they feel in the moment. My mission is to help people face the situation honestly, understand their rights and responsibilities, and move forward with confidence. At Data Mind, we do not just file forms — we resolve chaos.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the tax industry is definitely going to become more automated. AI and tax software are going to keep improving, and I think a lot of basic tax preparation will become easier for people to do on their own.
But I do not think that means tax professionals are going away. I think it means the role is changing. Simple returns may become more automated, but people with real tax problems still need help. If someone has years of unfiled returns, IRS notices, state tax balances, payroll tax issues, ITIN questions, or they are just afraid to open the mail, software is not enough.
That is where I see the future of the industry: more consulting, more tax resolution, more representation, and more education. I think people are going to need tax professionals who can explain things clearly and help them make good decisions, not just enter numbers into a return.
That is also where I see my own business going. I want to focus more on tax resolution, ITIN assistance, taxpayer representation, and helping individuals and small business owners get compliant and back on track. Technology can make the work more efficient, but I still think people need someone human in their corner.
