Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Allen.
Hi Debra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started back in 1976. I was working at UC Davis in the operating room as RN when a friend of mine told me he was starting a plastic surgery residency at UC San Francisco. He said I think you would like plastic surgery and I thought maybe so. The next year when a plastic surgeon in Santa Cruz offered me a job I thought oh yeah I’ll try that. I worked there about six years at at the first freestanding plastic surgery facility in California with four lovely plastic surgeons. I like to say they raised me.
I decided to return to college to obtain my physician assistant and nurse practitioner licenses. I then worked for 10 years in plastic surgery at Kaiser in Los Angeles as a physician assistant. Upon returning back to the rogue Valley in 2000, I began working in a plastic surgery office doing injectables. After about 13 years working there, the plastic surgeon retired so I began my own practice. That was 11 years ago so I’ve currently been the owner of Advanced Aesthetic Medicine in Medford since that time.I’ve had the honor to follow many clients through 20 years of their lives and their journeys. I love going to work every day and cherish my relationships that I’ve grown over the years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a smooth road practicing the way I do. I was very fortunate to have many years of plastic surgery experience behind me when the injectable world began in approximately 2003.. I love sculpting faces and connecting with people. I see my role more as a restorationist than anything else. I also very much enjoy the medical aspects of treating patients with facial asymmetry facial spasms, migraines, and other medical problems. In the last few years, I received referrals from a rheumatologist for Raynaud’s syndrome, a severe hand disorder.
So all in all, I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As far as my practice, I would say that I’m known for my conservative approach to facial restoration. I was fortunate to be a trainer for one of the injectable companies for almost 14 years. I enjoyed that very much trying to embrace extreme safety and meet the patient where they are as far as their desires and expectations.
I suppose I’m most proud of treating my clients as my friends and helping them with other medical questions that they may have and supporting them in whatever challenges they face in their lives.

I love Southern Oregon. Having been raised in Southern California and going to college in Northern California, Southern Oregon presents the four seasons in all their glory!
Unfortunately, at times we are faced with wildfires as with much of the west, which can be quite distressing for everyone.
