Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Thomas.
Hi Grace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in fashion at the ripe age of 20 as an assistant stylist to a celebrity stylist. My story continued as I pivoted into a world of corporate fashion, working at the Nike HQ in Beaverton, Oregon and taking on roles in merchandising, styling and buying. After 8 years, I decided to venture back into the world of styling and begin working 1:1 with clients as a personal wardrobe stylist.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is anything really a smooth road? No. Most of my struggles have come from having to balance multiple things at once and reimagine my business time and time again. When I first launched my business, I was still working full time at Nike and began building my business in the moments outside of that role. After building my clientele to a place where I could take it on fully, I had to again reimagine how I would start to grow my business and take on clients working 40-50 hours per week. As my company started to take off, I got pregnant and had to manage some of my biggest and most challenging opportunities while pregnant. Since I’ve had my son, almost two years ago I have had to navigate taking a maternity leave and pausing my business, slowly returning and now running it as a mom and business owner.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in styling men and women, between the ages of 25-75 for their own individual lives. I believe that my role as a stylist is part educator and part stylist. I love to help my clients learn about their body shapes, what brands to shop, and how to style and create outfits on their own. As ai work with each client I really try to take the time to learn about who they are, what they do and where they are going in their daily lives. This helps me to understand what they need in their wardrobe, it’s never one size fits all. I also love working with all different budgets. Whether you have $1000 to spend or an unlimited budget, I can help you refine and express your style.
What’s next?
I’m figuring that out each and every day. I love working with clients who I have an established relationship and working deeply with 1:1 clients. I am trying to find new ways to reach a broader audience and offer services for those that cannot commit to the time or financial investment my services require. One of those things I hope comes through content creation and shoppable catalogs that I can offer through my platforms.
