Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Bannon.
Hi Heidi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was interested in writing and photography when I was in high school, but I fell away from it when I moved from Montana to Virginia when I graduated. I joined the Air Force, and as kismet happens, my career field was Combat Photography and Photojournalism. Time and technology fast forward with some well timed luck and here we are.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I struggled after the Gulf War, and didn’t pick up a camera or do any sort of writing for several years. But there is a musician that really inspires me when I listen to her, and she doesn’t know it, but she got me back into writing. Shout out to @MichelleMalone
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m giving my days back to the Veteran’s Health Administration. I work in the Women’s Health clinic, and absolutely love getting to know these women and their stories.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love all kinds of art and learning the truth about history. The real truth. I dislike the fact that we are constantly being lied to, stolen from, pitted against each other while our pockets are being picked by the very people elected to SERVE our best interests.
