Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Mendiola.
Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent 20 years in the home building industry, 17 of those in manufactured housing. Shortly after covid began I decided it was time to make a change. I quit my job of 17 years and started my own business with just myself doing the work to get my business up and running.. Today we have moved into a commercial shop/office building and have 5 employees with 2 trucks and trailers allowing us to split up and work on multiple jobs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been slow and steady growth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about JP Construction & Remodel?
We are a construction company. We do almost everything. We specialize in remodels. Our work mainly consists of kitchen and bathroom remodels, but what makes us different is the broad variety of services we offer without using subcontractors. What sets us apart from the competition is that we always pull permits for the work that requires it. The majority of our competition (small to mid-sized construction companies) focus on getting the job without having permits issued. We also used a licensed plumber and electrician when the job requires it. I’ve seen plenty of work in our area performed by others that have done plumbing and electrical work that they should not have been doing as well as unpermitted work that will affect the resale value of the customers home in the future.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You have to do your very best to stay on top of everything because work can very quickly pile up making you feel overwhelmed.
