Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Peters.
Hi Kelly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into sound healing started 11 years ago because I was looking for healing myself. For years I struggled with depression, anxiety, racing thoughts, and I could never seem to get my mind to slow down. My talk therapist suggested I try a sound healing session as another tool to support my healing. I honestly had no idea what to expect.
During that very first session, something happened that I will never forget. For an entire hour, my mind was completely quiet. No racing thoughts. No constant mental chatter. Just peace. I walked away thinking, “What was that?!” I was absolutely blown away.
After that, I started seeing my mentor regularly, first for my own healing and then because I became fascinated by how sound and vibration could have such a profound effect on the body and mind. Over time, I began studying with her, and our relationship grew into a close friendship.
Looking back, I realize sound had been a part of my life long before I ever discovered sound healing. I studied piano and classical music for nine years as a child, developing a deep appreciation for harmony, melody, rhythm, and the mathematics behind music. Today, I see sound therapy as a natural extension of that foundation. During my sessions, I intentionally layer harmonies, chords, intervals, rhythms, melodies, and frequencies to create an experience that helps the nervous system settle and invites people into a more relaxed, connected, and elevated state of being.
I’m also fascinated by the science, history, and physics of sound. While sound healing is deeply intuitive, I love understanding the research behind why it works. It’s incredible to think that sound waves are simply vibrations moving through the body, influencing our nervous system, brainwave activity, heart rate, breathing, and stress response. Emerging research is even exploring how sound and music may influence gene expression through their effects on stress, inflammation, and overall physiology. I love living at the intersection of art, science, mathematics, and human connection.
In 2023, I completed my sound healing certification in Sedona and hosted my very first sound session for a group of my girlfriends. Watching their faces afterward—the calm, the emotion, the shift—I knew I had found what I was meant to do. I remember thinking, “If I can help people feel like this every day, that’s exactly how I want to spend my life.”
I often say I’m a wounded healer. Sound healing found me when I needed it most, and I’m so grateful it did. It gave me a path toward healing that I didn’t know existed, and now I get the incredible privilege of sharing it with others.
Today I have the honor of sharing sound with people of all ages and backgrounds—from my daughter’s elementary school and retirement communities to private sessions, corporate wellness events, retreats, and one-of-a-kind immersive experiences. Every session is different, and I still find myself amazed by what can happen when people are simply given permission to slow down, listen, and receive.
No matter who I’m working with, my goal is always the same: to create a space that feels safe, calm, and sacred, where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and simply be.
If someone leaves a session feeling lighter, calmer, more connected, or with a renewed sense of hope, then I’ve done exactly what I set out to do. I truly believe that when we take time to regulate our nervous systems and care for ourselves, we become healthier individuals, stronger families, and more compassionate communities. It is an incredible privilege to do work that I genuinely love every single day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I honestly feel like finding my purpose has changed the way I look at challenges. It’s made me realize the journey is unfolding exactly as it needs to. Most of the time I feel like I’m in the flow, and things come together more naturally than they ever have in my life.
That doesn’t mean everything has been easy. There have definitely been difficult moments, setbacks, and plenty of uncertainty. But I’ve learned to appreciate those moments because they’ve always taught me something. They’ve helped me grow, become more resilient, and gain more clarity about the direction I’m meant to go. I’m also incredibly grateful for the business partners, creators, collaborators, friends, and family who have supported me along the way. Having people to bounce ideas off of or simply talk things through with has made a huge difference.
Probably my biggest lesson has been learning to trust my intuition. I’ve realized that my first gut feeling is usually right. There have been many opportunities over the last few years that looked exciting on paper, but something didn’t feel quite right. Instead of listening to that feeling, I convinced myself to push forward anyway, only to realize later it wasn’t in alignment with my values or the direction I wanted to go.
I think as humans, the more we learn to trust our gut and our instincts, the more life begins to flow. We spend less time forcing things that aren’t meant for us and more time saying yes to the opportunities that truly align with who we are. That shift has made all the difference for me, both personally and professionally.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One of my greatest passions is making the science of sound approachable. I love exploring the physics, mathematics, history, and biology of vibration, then translating that knowledge into experiences people can truly feel. I enjoy sharing the growing research on how sound may support the nervous system, encourage neuroplasticity, influence gene expression, and enhance overall well-being. I believe that understanding why sound works can make the experience even more meaningful.
That passion is reflected in every session I create. I specialize in immersive sound experiences that blend ancient wisdom with modern science. My nine years of studying piano and classical music give me a unique understanding of harmony, timing, intervals, melody, and resonance, allowing me to create sessions that are both deeply musical and therapeutic.
Rather than simply playing instruments, I create immersive experiences that are intentional. Whether it’s leading a sound journey inside a 250-million-year-old cave, facilitating corporate wellness events, training future sound practitioners, or holding intimate one-on-one sessions, my hope is that people leave feeling inspired, empowered, and more connected to themselves and the world around them—long after the final note has faded.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, music was a huge part of my life. I started studying piano and voice at just four years old and fell in love with performing, acting, and making music. My grandma bought me my first piano and encouraged me to practice. Even as a young child, I was determined. Whatever I pursued, I wanted to master it and become the best I could be.
Then, around age nine, everything changed. I traded the piano bench for a soccer ball and a swim team, and music immediately faded into the background. That same drive to improve and compete carried over into sports, where I poured all of my energy for the next several years.
When I discovered sound healing 11 years ago, I knew I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how much those early years of musical training had shaped me. I didn’t realize how deeply harmony, melody, rhythm, timing, and intervals had become part of who I was. It felt as though those skills had been quietly waiting beneath the surface all along.
Looking back now, I can see that my years studying piano and voice gave me an intuitive understanding of music that naturally found its way into my sound healing practice. Rather than thinking about what to play next, I often trust what I hear and feel in the moment. The music seems to flow naturally, allowing me to create immersive sound experiences that are both therapeutic and deeply musical.
