Meet Robert Johnson of Stedfast Plumbing & Drains.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Johnson.

Hi Robert, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in trades by working alongside my older brothers, both seasoned contractors, which helped shape a strong work ethic from the beginning. Coming from a family deeply rooted in the trades—my father was a union electrician and my uncle a home builder—I was immersed in masonry and construction projects throughout my school years. Determined to succeed, I finished high school in under three years via correspondence while playing four years of high school football. Growing up in a lively, large family—my parents had five children, and they proudly adopted me and my twin brother—life was never dull. Our rural home was alive with horses, dogs, and a menagerie of animals, and we were always tackling new projects and responsibilities. Meeting my wife in high school was truly life-changing; she’s been my guiding light ever since. After graduation, I worked at a hardware store for nearly a year until it closed. Soon after, I entered the plumbing industry, initially studying with plans to join the military and pursue firefighting. However, my passion shifted as I became a volunteer firefighter and EMT, balancing plumbing work and service. Starting as a laborer, I quickly advanced to operating my own van for drain cleaning and septic repairs within six months. Six months later, I was a supervisor, training new technicians. A few years later, I joined my brother-in-law‘s plumbing company, completing a four-year apprenticeship in Oregon. After earning my journeyman license, I managed his business for 18 years, gaining invaluable experience. Eventually, I dreamed of owning my own company. Encouraged by my family, we launched Stedfast Plumbing and Drain, with my wife, daughter, and son playing vital roles in branding, design, and training. Our team grew from a small operation into a thriving business with nine employees, aided by the support of my good friend Mitch Matheny, who helped us expand. Today, we’re proud to be a family-run company dedicated to exceptional service, innovation, and growth. Traveling across the country and even making an appearance on Amazon Prime TV has been unforgettable. Of course, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. Losing my older brother to pancreatic cancer last year was heartbreaking, but it strengthened my resolve. My brothers’ strong work ethic and dedication, inspired by my father’s example, have always motivated me. Growing up with the support of my older siblings and a vibrant community of family and friends has been a true blessing on this remarkable adventure.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has Taken many turns throughout my life, guided by my family and strengthened by my unwavering faith. This faith has helped me navigate through challenges and led me to who I am today. I’ve come to understand that sometimes the best lessons come from failure, and the determination to persevere often turns setbacks into opportunities. No matter the circumstances, always believe that tomorrow brings new challenges and embrace the hard work needed to face them.
