Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Hawkins.
Hi Tanya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our mission is to get Our Veterans housed, keep them housed and keep their lights on.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We were in our previous location for six years and had 40 days notice to move. Our customers helped us raise the down payment for our current location. We are so blessed and we are actually able to give more money to Our Veterans as our expenses have gone down.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As the founder of Gung Ho Ministries, I am honored that I get to raise money for our Veterans in need. I also could not do this without the help from the most amazing volunteers. I have over 20 amazing ladies that volunteer their time. They sort our donations, steam, price, sell and then give the profits to Our Veterans. It’s pretty amazing!!
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Rockford Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
