Rising Stars: Meet Kaleigh Llama of Oregon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaleigh Llama.

Hi Kaleigh, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have painted and drawn since I was two years old – it’s been a steady thread through my life. I feel deeply connected to nature, including animals, trees, birds, oceans, and mountains.

My cross-country journey first took shape in my mind while attending Fine Art College (FIT) in NYC as a teenager. As a sensitive and curious soul, I set off on an adventure to a small town in Southern Utah (Caineville) to pursue farming and get closer to nature – and further from people.

That training in NYC, combined with my experience in farm life, eventually led me to Oregon. After spending three years in Southern Oregon (Wilderville), I found myself longing for a small city – one that was dog-friendly and art-oriented. Life brought me and my dog to Bend over 8 years ago.

I fell in love with veterinary medicine here and haven’t looked back since. My work today continues to involve nature and animals, both wild and domestic. I will always be an artist and an animal lover – and each year, I feel closer to my true Self.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There will always be struggles, but more importantly there are always deep roots within us that keep us grounded. For me, it is Art and Animals, and long walks with my dog!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a passionate animal lover, and my career is in veterinary medicine. I am half way through my Veterinary Technician schooling through Penn Foster. My absolute favorite moments are surprising a client or coworker with an unannounced pet portrait – there’s a real spark within me to make and share art.

What does success mean to you?
Success is showing up, persevering despite obstacles, and being forgiving (with yourself, your process, and others).
